Trash and Recycling Container Labeling Reminder
Lemoyne Borough and Anthracite Waste Services want to remind residents that recycling containers MUST be clearly labeled to ensure proper collection.
Residents may use any type of container for both trash and recycling. However, containers used for recycling MUST be clearly marked so collection crews can easily identify them.
How to label your recycling container:
• Use a large sticker labeled “Recycling”
• Spray paint “Recycling” on the container
• Clearly mark the container with permanent marker or a visible label
Recycling crews typically move through the neighborhoods and only stop at homes where recycling is clearly set out. If containers are not labeled, crews may not know recycling is inside and may pass the property.
If identical, unlabeled containers are left out, the trash crew may later collect them as regular waste because they cannot distinguish which container contains recycling.
