Anthracite Waste Services – Frequently Asked Questions
The following information is based on written confirmation received directly from the owner of Anthracite Waste Services and is intended to provide clear, accurate information to residents.
Q: Will Anthracite provide trash bins or toters?
A: Yes. Anthracite Waste Services does have a container/toter rental program in place. Requests are currently being accepted, and deliveries are expected to begin toward the end of next week.
Due to extremely high call volumes, residents are encouraged to submit requests by email.

Q: Are containers/toters/carts/bins required from Anthracite?
A: No, you can choose to use your own trash bin/toters although you do have the option to rent a bin/toter/cart, if you are interested as mentioned above.
Q: How does bulk (large item) pickup work? Is advance notice required?
A: Bulk items may be placed curbside on a resident’s regular trash collection day. Advance notice is not required.
Anthracite crews will collect bulk items whether or not a call is made. Residents may choose to contact Anthracite in advance if they wish, as advance notice can assist with scheduling, but it is optional.
Q: Where and when do I place my trash cans out for pick-up?
A: Where: Place your trash cans/bins/carts where you were accustomed to placing it prior to the service switch to Anthracite. They have their crew acclimating themselves to the secondary streets as well as main streets. When: Best practice is to put your trash out the night prior to your pickup, in the can of your choice with a lid, in accordance with the Borough’s ordinances.
Q: Why was there conflicting information shared previously?
A: Anthracite has indicated that some confusion occurred during the transition period due to temporary staffing and unusually high call volumes. The information provided above reflects Anthracite Waste Services’ confirmed and official service practices.

Q: What day will Anthracite pick up Christmas Trees?
A: There is not a specific day for tree pick-up with Anthracite. You can simply put your tree out with your trash and recycling on your scheduled day.

We would like to introduce you to Lemoyne’s new solid waste and recycling company, Anthracite Waste Services. Please take a moment to scroll through the handout below in its entirety, provided to us by Anthracite, to help with a smooth transition. It is very important to scroll completely thru the information as there will be two pick up days and you will find a color coded map noting which area will be picked up on which day. Anthracite Waste Services will be mailing this information out to residents as well. We thank you in advance for your help and cooperation in this transition.
