The Borough will be sponsoring a "Clean Up Day" on Saturday, April 26, 2014. This event is held in conjunction with Earth Day and the "Great American Cleanup". Mayor York is spearheading the event and volunteers will be gathering at Borough Hall at 8:00 am. Volunteers who check in can fortify themselves with a light breakfast, and get free work gloves, safety vest, and trash bags. There will also be a number of prizes awarded to folks who volunteer. Please join us!
YARD WASTE DROP OFF TO RESUME
Starting on April 26, 2014 the Borough will resume a limited yard waste drop off program mainly due to the efforts of volunteer Rick Stark. Residents, or landscape contractors who can prove they are working for Borough property owners, can bring yard waste to the collection site near the wastewater treatment plant at the end of Lowther Street. Rick will be at the gate on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10:00 am until noon. Residents should bring something that shows their name and address. Contractors should bring a signed work order or paid receipt indicating the source of the waste. Rick may be able to accommodate residents who absolutely cannot make it during these times. You can call him at 991-9644. You can also call Rick if you would like to volunteer your time to guard the gate.
He will be there at 9:00 am on April 26th as part of Borough Clean Up Day. Other Saturdays will be 10:00 until noon unless more people volunteer for gate duty.
SHREDDED MULCH AND LEAF COMPOST AVAILABLE
There is a limited amount of shredded wood mulch and leaf compost availble for Borough residents. The mulch and compost is now 2 to 3 years old and would be suitable as soil amendments. You must come to the site with a vehicle and a shovel to get it. See the instructions above for YARD WASTE DROP OFF for days and times a volunteer will be available to let you in.
